4.30 lakh voters deleted from Greater Hyderabad list

As many as 4.30 lakh voters were deleted from 25 Assembly constituencies of Greater Hyderabad limits covering Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medak districts during the summary revision of electoral rolls.

Of them, about 2,42,584 are men, 1,88,069 are women and 49 are third gender voters. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) published the final rolls on Friday.

As per the final publication of electoral rolls, the total electors in the GHMC limits now stand at 82,65,005 and of them 44,08,399 are men, 38,55,291 are women and 1,314 belong to the third gender.

GHMC officials told Express that summary revision of electoral rolls was taken up between October 2015 and August 2016. During the exercise, some 4.30 lakh voters’ names were deleted which were found to be bogus, duplicate voters due to change of house from constituency to another constituency or dead.

Kukatpally tops the list with highest number of voter deletions with 39,520 followed by Serilingampally with 35,180, LB Nagar with 35,060 and Qutbullapur with 32,124.

These constituencies have large presence of voters from Andhra Pradesh. GHMC officials said that the revision was done in a transparent manner without any bias.

Compared to last year, there is a marginal increase of 2.08 lakh voters this year. Last year, the total voters were 80,56,944 including 43,06,971 men, 37,48,878 women and 1,095 third gender voters
