Fake currency racket busted, 3 arrested
Commissioner's Task Force, South Zone Team, Hyderabad, with the assistance of Charminar Police, on Friday arrested three persons and seized a huge quantity of counterfeit currency notes from their possession. The police arrested Mohd Ghouse, Shareeful Shaik and one Jahanara Bibi. The police also seized Rs 11,95,000 cash, counterfeit Indian currency in Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denominations, one Activa motorcycle and two cell phones from their possession.
The police said Mohd Ghouse was previously involved in counterfeit currency cases under the limits of Monda Market, Gopalapuram, Kanchanbagh, Shahalibanda, Kalapathar, Bhavaninagar, Chandrayangutta, Mirchowk and Falaknuma Police Stations. Recently, he was released from jail and revived his old contacts in Malda district of West Bengal, who were previously involved in supplying of counterfeit currency.
In this context, about 10 days ago, he contacted one of his old suppliers, Babloo Shaik alias Babloo of Malda, West Bengal, and ordered fake Indian currency. Subsequently, Babloo, on September 7, sent Rs 12 lakh worth fake currency notes through his mother Jahanara Bibi and his brother-in-law Shareeful Shaik of West Bengal to Hyderabad to hand over the same to his customer Mohd Ghouse by giving his contact number.
On Friday, at about 08.00 hours, Mohd Ghouse met Shreeful Shaik and Jahanara Bibi at Charminar and during the transactions, they were caught red-handed with Rs 11,95,000 fake Indian currency notes. Babloo Shaik, the prime accused in the case, was arrested. The seized fake currency is of high quality and cannot be identified easily, the police said. The accused and the seized property were handed over to the SHO, Charminar Police Station.
The arrests were made under the supervision of N Koti Reddy, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City, A Yadagiri, Inspector of Police, South Zone Task Force, K Chandra Sekhar Reddy, Inspector of Police, Charminar Police Station, SIs N Srishylam, B Madhusudan and G Mallesh with the assistance of staff.
